Alerts are a type of SDI. They are searches created by your librarian or WebSPIRS administrator, and scheduled to run automatically.

You can only use this feature if your WebSPIRS administrator has authorized you. If you are an authorized user, you can subscribe to an Alert. Then the latest search results are e-mailed to you each time the search is run.

To get to the Alerts page:

Click Alerts on the WebSPIRS toolbar. If that button does not appear on the toolbar, it means your administrator has not authorized you to subscribe.

To subscribe to, or unsubscribe from, an SDI Alert:

Type your e-mail address in the Subscriber: field and click Set Address

You only need do this the first time you access Alerts information during your WebSPIRS session.

If you already subscribe to any Alerts, they now appear checked in the "Subscribe" column.

If you want to get details about a particular search, click on the underlined Alert Name.

Then:

Click the checkbox next to each Alert you want to subscribe to.

If you want to end your subscription to an Alert, uncheck the checkbox next to it.
