National Science Indicators on Diskette, 1981-1997,
offers the most up-to-date measures on national performance in the sciences and social
sciences based on the unique and authoritative publication and citation statistics by the
Institute for Scientific Information. The database contains the number of ISI-indexed
papers from each nation and the number of times the papers were cited through 1997.
Analyze the data for each year, for the entire period, the most recent five-year period,
or in five-year moving windows of papers published and cited - for one or any group of
nations. , 1981-1997, offers the

Examine performance overall or in one or
more subfields. The Standard version includes 24 categories aggregated from
ISIUs science and social science Current Contents�
editions. The Deluxe version includes each of the 105 categories from all
seven of ISI's Current Contents editions. In addition, the Deluxe
includes three regional aggregations: European Union, Asia/Pacific, and
Latin America.
Compare actual and relative performance using built-in
baseline statistics. Review output, impact, citedness, and percent-share figures. Plot the
data over time. Make tables, charts, and graphs with just a few key strokes.
For each and every nation, you will receive:
- total number of papers
- total citations to papers
- citation impact statistics
- world and country baselines for publication, citation, and
citation impact statistics

The data are delivered on 3 1/2S diskettes with a custom, Windows-based
interface.
